About Me

My Experience

In addition to working privately, I work within the NHS as a Senior Psychologist in a specialist Sexual Health and HIV service. I have more than a decade of experience working with people with long term health conditions and I provide Psychosexual therapy to individuals and couples experiencing sexual problems and relationship issues.

I have experience in working with adolescents and young people experiencing anxiety, health anxiety, depression, social anxiety, trauma, suicidality, relationship difficulties and adjustment difficulties. I work collaboratively and creatively to support young people and adolescents to explore and understand their difficulties.

My portfolio of experience is varied; I have worked with adults and young people experiencing depression, anxiety, domestic abuse, health anxiety, racial trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and sexual problems and have many years experience working with LGBTQ+ clients.

Traditionally the psychology profession has had a particularly white, Eurocentric, heteronormative focus, and I do not think this necessarily benefits all people who engage with psychology services. I do believe the more traditional approach to therapy is helpful and effective with many people, however, I have experienced both as a clinician and as a client, how alienating, and intimidating and pathologizing it can also be. Because of this I have spent the past few years engaging more with other approaches to therapy which are more inclusive and adaptive to the needs of Black, Minority Ethnic communities and LGBTQ+ communities.

As a psychologist, I have a particular responsibility to highlight and support individuals and communities who experience racism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia; any form of injustice that means people are treated unjustly or are ignored by society. In my service I seek to challenge institutional racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, and create a service that focuses instead on empowerment, hope and equity.

I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and I am committed to high ethical standards of practice and professional development.

Next Steps

Thinking about starting therapy can be anxiety provoking and you may have many questions about what therapy involves. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation as an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about me or the way I work. After this, we can make an appointment for an online consultation. Please call me on 07810 844119 or email below.

If you decide to meet with me for an initial consultation, I will use the opportunity to learn more about you, your needs, current difficulties, and hopes for therapy. This is also an opportunity for you see how I work and reflect on how comfortable you feel working with me. Toward the end of this initial consultation, we will think together about a way forward.
